WEEK 1

I hope to achieve confidence in using social media at home and at my place of employment. Right now, I know very little about the social media world and I think it’s important to know how to communicate effectively with others on web-based sites. Another thing that I’m considering (with my husbands feedback) is to set up his business page online. He’s a financial advisor so I was toying with the idea of creating a simple home page for him. Just some general information, contact info and a link or two.

My concerns? This is really one of my first times to setting up a blogging page, links, images, a Twitter account etc. so I’m feeling a  little bit  overwhelmed.

Today, everyone is using some kind of social media whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, Lindekin, You tube, Eyejot, etc. and I figured that I need to “get with it” and conquer the social world. :)

My goal is: I need to learn more on how social media is used and implemented.

  1. I definitely agree Diane, I am feeling overwhelmed as well. I tried posting my first blog post for the week 1 topic and I had to try it three times before it actually published. The first two times it just kept loading and wouldn’t publish. The third time I tried posting under the dashboard heading selecting the add new tab, and it worked! So apparently that’s where you have to publish your posts? Not sure yet, hopefully with time everything will go smoother.

    • Hi Ryan,
I do publish my posts under the “heading” posts…add new. That seems to work just fine. I’ve been testing my blogging page and entering comments to myself then deleting them. 🙂 I want to learn how to add a You tube link to my comments. Working on that now.

  2. Hey Diane, I thinks it’s a great idea for you to set up a webpage for your husband’s business. The world is certainly going increasingly cyber. People who only utilize the paper and other such advertisement methods will be left in the dust. What are your ideas for his web page? Do you think links to informational financial sites could be useful to enhance the page?

    • Yes you are so right! I would create links so that clients are able to pull up current information. Naturally, everything will need to be approved. I wonder if there are templates available? There must be somewhere on the internet to help me get the process started.
